Are you dreaming of a small, fluffy companion with piercing blue eyes and a lively personality? If so, you may have stumbled upon both Teacup Huskies and Miniature Siberian Huskies in your search — but are they the same thing?

In this post, we’ll break down the key differences between these two small Husky types so you can make the best decision for your lifestyle.

🧸 What Is a Teacup Husky?

The term “Teacup Husky” is often used to describe extremely small Huskies bred to stay under 15 pounds. These dogs are typically marketed for their tiny size and resemblance to puppies even as adults.

While we certainly have nothing against Teacup Huskies, we have intentionally chosen not to breed that small for health concerns and because with the smaller size comes more pomerian-like behavior. Our goal is that our dogs not only look like Siberian Huskies but have a similar temperament.

🐺 What Is a Miniature Siberian Husky?

A Miniature Siberian Husky is an intentionally bred smaller version of the standard Siberian Husky. These dogs typically:

  • Weigh 20–35 lbs

  • Stand 12–17 inches tall at the shoulder

  • Retain all the iconic Husky traits:

    • Blue or bi-colored eyes

    • Thick double coat

    • Energetic, intelligent, affectionate

Unlike teacup marketing gimmicks, Miniature Huskies are selectively bred for size without sacrificing health or temperament.
